1. Information We Collect

When you use PestSense AI, we collect the following information:

Account Information: Email address, name, and password (via AWS Cognito authentication).
Location Data: GPS coordinates at the time of image capture for mapping pest/disease occurrences geographically.
Camera & Photos: Images captured through the app camera for pest and disease identification and data collection.
Device Compass Data: Camera heading/direction at the time of photo capture for spatial analysis.
Weather Data: Temperature, humidity, and weather conditions at the capture location.
Device Information: Device platform, app version, and timestamps.
Agricultural Data: Pest/disease type, host crop, severity level, detection date, and field observations entered by the user.

2. How We Use Your Information

To collect and organize pest and disease data for agricultural research.
To provide crop health monitoring and analysis.
To improve pest/disease detection models using AI/ML.
To generate insights for farmers, researchers, and agricultural institutions.
To maintain and improve the app functionality.
To communicate important updates about the service.

3. Data Storage & Security

All data is stored securely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.
Images are stored in Amazon S3 with encryption at rest.
Metadata is stored in Amazon DynamoDB.
Authentication is handled by AWS Cognito with industry-standard encryption.
All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Data may be shared in the following circumstances:

With IIT Ropar and affiliated research institutions for agricultural research purposes.
In aggregated, anonymized form for academic publications and reports.
When required by law or legal process.

5. Permissions

The app requires the following device permissions:

Camera: To capture pest/disease images.
Location: To record GPS coordinates for geographical mapping.
Internet: To upload data and sync with the server.
Storage: To temporarily store images before upload.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for the duration of the research project and as required for agricultural analysis. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

7. Your Rights

Access your personal data.
Request correction of inaccurate data.
Request deletion of your data.
Withdraw consent at any time by discontinuing use of the app.

8. Children's Privacy

This app is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
