Sanket — Pest Risk Advisory by Annam.ai, IIT Ropar
Sanket ("the App") is a Pest Risk Advisory application designed to provide farmers and other users with crop-specific pest risk information based on crop details, field conditions, field location, and relevant weather information.
Sanket is developed as part of the Annam.ai initiative at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar).
Sanket may process information provided by the user while using the application, including:
The App does not require users to create an account or provide personal information such as their name, phone number, or email address in order to obtain a pest risk advisory.
Sanket may request access to the device location when the user chooses the "Use My Current Location" option.
When GPS location is used, latitude and longitude are processed to identify the field location and obtain location-specific weather information required for the pest risk assessment.
Users may also choose to enter a location manually instead of providing GPS access.
Location information is used only to provide the location and weather-related functionality requested by the user.
The App processes crop type, crop stage, and answers to relevant field-condition questions.
This information is combined with weather and environmental information to identify conditions that may favour particular pests and to generate a pest risk advisory.
Sanket uses third-party services to support weather and location functionality.
Open-Meteo services are used for:
Nominatim / OpenStreetMap services may be used to convert GPS coordinates into a readable place name.
When these features are used, the relevant place name and/or latitude and longitude may be transmitted to those services as necessary to complete the requested operation.

Sanket does not use the information submitted through the pest-risk assessment for advertising purposes.
Sanket provides a risk advisory and not a confirmed pest diagnosis.
Risk levels indicate whether the available crop, field, and weather conditions may favour a particular pest. A HIGH, MEDIUM, or LOW risk result does not confirm that the pest is actually present in the field.
Users should inspect their crops and, where appropriate, consult agricultural experts before taking pest-control or crop-management action.
Sanket does not sell users' personal information.
Information is shared with third-party technical services only when required to provide application functionality, such as geocoding, reverse geocoding, and weather retrieval.
Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or where necessary to protect the security and integrity of the application.
The current Sanket application backend processes crop information, field-condition responses, location information, and weather information in order to generate and return the requested pest risk advisory.
The current application backend does not intentionally persist users' pest-risk assessment inputs, including precise field location, in an application database after the assessment is completed.
However, hosting infrastructure and third-party technical services may maintain standard technical or access logs for security, troubleshooting, service operation, or abuse prevention in accordance with their own practices.
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information processed through Sanket from unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or misuse.
Users can choose whether to grant location permission to Sanket.
If location permission is not provided, users may use the manual location-entry option where available.
Users can manage or revoke location permissions at any time through their device settings.
Sanket is intended as an agricultural advisory tool and does not knowingly collect personal information specifically from children.
If information relating to a child is believed to have been collected unintentionally, the project team may be contacted so that appropriate action can be taken.
